Frequently Asked Questions

What do people wear to worship services?

We recommend clothes. (Shoes are optional, especially for our youngest members!) You will find some members in a sport coat and tie and others in jeans and a t-shirt. There is no dress code, please come as you are most comfortable.

Where do kids go during worship?

We believe that children are a blessing, even when they are being loud and wiggly! Kids remind us that we are all children at heart and have so much to learn! Worship is a place for discovery, for asking questions, and for learning about God. Children are welcome to participate in all elements of worship, even communion, as their parents see fit.

Children are invited to serve as acolytes who light the candles at the beginning of the service, to assist with reading during worship, and to come forward for a conversation with Pastor Lisa before the sermon.

There are soft toys and activity bags with paper, pencils, and pipe cleaners available to keep little hands occupied during worship. Need help finding these items? Just ask! There is a nursery and toddler room if parents feel the need to slip out with their little ones for a bit.

Do I need to be Presbyterian to take communion?

Our Communion table is open to all. If you feel called to share in the bread and the cup we welcome you to do so. Children are also welcome to share in communion. It is the practice of this congregation to allow the responsible adults in a child's life to discern when the child is ready to receive the sacrament. May we all, no matter how seasoned we are on the journey of life, become so arrogant as to believe that we fully understand the mystery of faith that happens at the communion table.

What is worship like?

Our worship service is a mix of traditional and contemporary. While we follow an order of worship with call and response readings, prayers, and scripture, our sermons are contemporary and timely. The music we sing and hear during worship is a blend of traditional hymns, songs you may hear on the radio, choir-led music, instrumental piano, and an occasional special offering.

Are there small groups or Bible studies I can get involved with?

Yes! At any given time you can find a book study, Bible study, adult Sunday School class, or topical study being led by our pastor or a church member. Click here to check out our Newsletter and calendar for current offerings.

What version of the Bible do you use?

In our church pews you will find copies of the New Revised Standard Version. However, at times during worship, other versions may be used depending on which one best helps illustrate the message.
